Melinda Schawel is an American/Australian artist living & working in Melbourne, Australia. She received a BA in Fine Art and Communication from the University of California Santa Barbara in 1993 and a Postgraduate Degree in Printmaking from RMIT in 1996. She has exhibited nationally & internationally since 1995, was a guest on The Art Show podcast, has been selected for many prestigious commissions and has been a finalist in the Whyalla Art Prize 2017, the Adelaide Perry Prize for Drawing 2017 (People's Choice Award), Nillumbik Prize 2013/15/16 & Fisher's Ghost Award 2012/2015. She represented Flinders Lane Gallery at Denfair in June 2017, was profiled by Art Guide in the May/June 2017 issue, featured in the 'Not to Be Missed' section of Art Collector Magazine in Jan-Mar 2017 and in 2015 was reviewed in Artist Profile Magazine. She was featured on the popular American arts blog The Jealous Curator in Jul 2016 & was artist in residence at the Art Vault in April 2016, her work has been published by Murtra Edicions in Spain and is represented in numerous collections including Crown Towers in Perth, the National Gallery of Australia & Artbank.
