Born in the USA, Schawel has exhibited widely with over 20 solo shows in her adopted country of Australia as well as internationally in Hong Kong, Switzerland and Singapore. She has been a finalist in a multitude of art prizes including most recently the Swan Hill National Print & Drawing Award 2026, Omnia Prize 2026 & the Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize 2024. In Oct 2025, she was artist-in-residence for 4 weeks at BigCi in Wollemi National Park, New South Wales. She has been featured in Artist Profile and Art Collector Magazines as well as the Local Project, Canberra Times and Arts Hub. Represented by a host of private/public collections including the National Gallery of Australia (ACT), City of Whitehorse (VIC), St Vincent’s Hospital (VIC) and Waldorf Astoria (NYC), she has also been commissioned for many projects including an integrated public artwork for the City of Casey (VIC), the Mori Group in Tokyo and Artelier Arts Consultancy in Bristol, UK.
